charities

We are sure that everyone’s immediate reaction is that they know all about charities, citing national, well-known organisations, or local ones often with whom they have had some sort of involvement. Many do not appreciate the complexity of the law relating to charities which is a specialist branch of trust law.

The law relating to charities has been amended and upgraded several times within the last few years, the latest legislation being in 2007. Charities are regulated by the Charity Commissioners and the new laws have increasingly given the Charity Commissioners a greater say and powers of intervention, particularly in cases of abuse.

We at mfg Solicitors have had considerable experience over the years in the setting up of new charitable organisations, the administration and running of charities and generally advising on matters related thereto, including trust law and taxation.

Whether you are thinking of setting up a new charity, are involved in one in some way, whether as a trustee, director or through some form of office, we can help.
