compromise agreements

Employers sometimes offer an employee a compromise or severance agreement when terminating their employment.

The basis of a compromise agreement is that the employer offers you some further financial compensation or other incentive to enter into the compromise agreement and in turn, by signing the agreement, you give up your right to bring an employment-related claim against your employer.

If negotiated properly, a compromise agreement can be a very effective way to ensure that you are adequately compensated for the termination of your employment without the need to bring a formal claim against your employer which can be expensive, time-consuming and may attract potentially damaging publicity.

If you are offered a compromise agreement, you should take independent legal advice on the agreement as soon as possible.

If you’re already at the stage where you have an employment-related problem, we can advise you quickly, cost effectively and discreetly. You will want to ensure you have the best possible case and we are highly experienced in defending our clients

Our team recognises that your require advice which is prompt and, sometimes, informal. We take a pride in our approachability and flexibility in dealing with your requirements.
