Worcestershire’s potential rugby stars of tomorrow are touring the West Country this weekend in a specially designed golden strip sponsored by mfg Solicitors. Fifty youngsters from Worcester RFC mini rugby teams, who play at under 7 and 8 levels are all set for matches in Weston-super-Mare and Exeter. Tour co-ordinator Jon Dear said: “We’d like to thank mfg Solicitors for most of the shirt sponsorship. They have been very generous.” He added: “Tag rugby at this age group is all about introducing small children to the concept of team play, group discipline in playing to the rules, and the excitement of a fast ball game.” Twenty-five players from each age group, accompanied by coaches and parents, will travel firstly to Weston-super-Mare, where they will play a club fixture against Weston Hornets. The tour party will overnight in Exeter, before playing in a triangular tournament with Exeter and Exmouth on Sunday. The mfg 2008 Easter Tour strip is predominantly gold, as opposed to the normal club colours of blue with a gold band. |
Mr Dear added: “The shirts are of a high quality and so can be used for club fixtures next season.”
MFG Solicitors partner Iain Morrison said: “We wish the youngsters the best of luck in their games - and hope they enjoy the excitement of a rugby tour.
“As part of our policy our firm gets actively involved in the community all over the West Midlands, and we like to support activities which involve encouraging young people.”
