sex discrimination

Discrimination on the grounds of sex is rendered unlawful by the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.

In the 30 years since the sex discrimination legislation was introduced there have been significant cultural changes across the workplace. Despite this thousands of people a year are subjected to unfair treatment in the workplace because of their gender.

Although many high profile sex discrimination cases are broadcast in detail across the media, a significant number still go unreported. Some victims are embarrassed to come forward while others are simply unaware of their legal rights and the protection they are entitled to by law.
